The 14 000 hectare of pristine African wilderness which is home to the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve is in the Northern part of the Sabi Sand and forms part of the Greater Kruger Park.
Thornybush enjoys some of the best game viewing on offer with spectacular ‘Big 5’ sightings plus the elusive cheetah and wild dog make this a ‘Super Seven’ destination.

The 20 suites at Thornybush Waterside Lodge each comprise of a king size bed, air-conditioning, mini bar, electric safe, hairdryer separate bath and indoor shower, private deck with an outdoor shower.
Thornybush Waterside can also cater for families with two of the suites having interconnecting doors to comprise a 2 bedroom family suite.
Facilities
Thornybush Waterside is set on the banks of a lake giving the Lodge breathtaking views of the lake and African bush beyond. The main deck overlooks the lake where you’re invited to watch the animals come down to drink and play in the cooling waters.
The Lodge also includes a swimming pool for cooling off from the African heat and a library should you wish to spend time lounging by the pool with a book in hand. Dining is arranged in a mixture of locations from the viewing deck, the traditional boma or privately in the intimate setting of your suite.
The Lodge also offers a children’s program and curio shopping.

Twice daily game drive in open Land Cruisers with highly professional rangers and Shangaan trackers, both of which enjoy sharing their knowledge and experiences of the African bush.
After a scrumptious breakfast you are welcome to join your ranger on an insightful bush walk where he will take you on a journey of discovery explaining in greater detail the medical uses of various plants and tree along the importance of the smaller creatures, like the dung beetles, termites and even the mosquitoes have to the ecosystem. You will go away with a much greater respect for these tiny creatures that share our planet.
