Thanda is a Big 5 private game reserve in the beautiful Kwa-Zulu-Natal province of South Africa.  Here the traditional Zulu culture is celebrated with warm welcomes and a true desire to make guests feel a part of the family.

Thanda Safari Lodge’s nine villas are a real tribute to the local African culture.  The villas are large with king size beds, separate lounge area with a double sided fire place & mini bar, private boma area with fireplace.  The en-suite bathrooms boast both indoor and outdoor showers and free standing bathtubs.

 

Each villa has a private viewing deck overlooking the African bush, plunge pool and a sala with day bed to relax on while watching the wildlife wander by.

The facilities available at Thanda Safari Lodge include a spacious lounge area, expansive viewing deck and library that look over an active waterhole, cigar bar, a private business area, extensive wine cellar and an indulgent spa facility.

Activities

Twice daily game drives with an experienced ranger and tracker in open game drive vehicles. Experience an exhilarating bush walk learning about the history, ecology, birdlife and flora & fauna of the Thanda Reserve.

Other optional activities available to guests include a once in a lifetime Rhino darting experience or join the dedicated teams tracking either Rhino or Cheetah on a daily basis whilst learning about their behaviour and feeding patterns. Spend the day with the dedicated conservation team at Thanda participating in tracking, counting and monitoring the Big 5 and relocating animals in Thanda Game Reserve.
