Situated at the Eastern end of South Africa’s famous Garden Route makes Shamwari Private Game Reserve the ideal destination to start or end of any trip.  Set in 20 000 hectares of pristine wilderness and home to Africa’s Big 5 and so much more.

 

Shamwari is home to the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary & Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, both of which do vital work in the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife.

This stunningly refurbished lodge has just nine luxury inter-leading rooms, each of the suites can accommodation 2 adults plus one child.

 

The suites consist of king size beds, air-conditioning, mini bar, TV with satellite channels,

electronic safe, hairdryer, en-suite bath and shower along with a private patio area.

The facilities at Riverdene are all about family fun and learning.  The swimming pool has a shallow area for the children and a relaxing lounger area for the parents.  A supervised kids club, toddler play area and kids adventure centre is on hand to entertain the little ones and a gift boutique, bar and lounge the entertainment for the big ones!

 

A stunning traditional boma overlooking Bushman’s River for dining under the stars along with various indoor and outdoor dining locations are available.

Shamwari offers guests twice daily game drives in open game drive vehicles, these vehicles allow for a 360 degree view ensuring that any sighting isn’t missed.

 

It’s also recommended that you participate in the bush walks, conducted by your highly experienced ranger.  This gives your ranger the opportunity to share his extensive knowledge of the reserve’s flora & fauna. He will also take the time to show and explain the animal spoor that you happen upon.
