The De Hoop Nature Reserve consists of 34 000 hectares of Fynbos, sand dunes, stunning beaches, vlei westlands and the Potberg Mountains and sits approx. half way along the famous Garden Route.  The reserve is home to over 80 different mammals including the rare bonkebok and cape mountain zebra, and although rare, leopard is also found here.

 

Some of the best land-based whale watching can be found here, as Southern Right Whales come close to the shores of Walker Bay to breed and calf, however, a total of seven whale species have been seen in the bay.

Morukuru Beach Lodge has four luxury ocean view suites and one honeymoon suite with a dune and partial ocean view.  Each of the suites include a king size bed, air-conditioning, underfloor heating, ceiling fan, TV and fireplace.  In addition, they also have a large bay window with day bed, which can be turned into a bed for a child.

 

The en-suite facilities boast a free-standing bathtub, and walk-in rain shower.  The Honeymoon suite includes an outdoor bath.

Activities

Activities

There is an array of activities open to guests of De Hoop, traversing the reserve on a 4x4 Fynbos safari in the company of an experienced guide is a fabulous way to see the animals and plant life.  Sandboarding is so much fun to try or there are a number of guided marine walks and hikes to join.

 

For those looking for something a little more relaxing, try the spa for a relaxing treatment or massage, wonder down to the beach, take a whale watching flight or simply sit on the viewing deck and enjoy the bird life. *Some activities are at an additional cost and/or are seasonal
