The 54 000 hectare of pristine African wilderness, which is home to the Timbavati Game Reserve and forms part of the Greater Kruger Park, enjoys excellent game viewing with spectacular ‘Big 5’ sightings plus the elusive cheetah and wild dog make this a ‘Super Seven’ destination.

 

The Timbavati is also renowned for its population of beautiful white lions, which occur naturally in this area.

The accommodation at Makanyi consists of seven luxury suites and one villa.  The suites all overlook a stunning dam and include king size beds, air-conditioning, a cosy seating area with fireplace, a private viewing deck with seating and an outdoor shower. The en-suites facilities include bathtub and large separate shower. Two of the suites also boast private pools and four poster beds.

 

The two bedroom villa is perfect for families or two couples travelling together and includes a large living room opening up onto the expansive viewing deck, boma area and private swimming pool.  The villa includes a private guide and game drive vehicle for your convenience.

The main lodge has a stunning sun deck and sparkling rim-flow swimming pool overlooking the dam where the wildlife come down to drink.

 

Of an evening guests are invited to relax in the lounge area next to a roaring fire for pre-dinner drinks from the bar.  Meals are served in either the dining room, out on the deck or in the traditional African boma allowing guests to experience an authentic African dining experience.

 

The lodge also has a curio shop should you wish to pick up a memento for your visit.

Daily game drives with professional guides and trackers provide the perfect opportunity to get up close to Africa’s incredible animals, while evening drives reveal the elusive magic of nocturnal Africa. The game drives are all conducted in state-of-the-art open game drive vehicles.

 

Walking safaris are an incredible way to experience the bush up close and personal. Your expert guide and tracker will accompany you as you track animals on foot through the wilderness and explore the magnificent plants and landscapes around you.
