The 75 000 hectare, malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve is just a 4 hour drive from Johannesburg, and offers not only Big 5 viewing but the ‘Super Seven’ (wild dog & cheetah) are also seen on a regular basis along with the nocturnal brown hyena.
Jamala Madikwe celebrates going that little but further with little extra touches to a guests’ safari experience. A unique ‘Watchtower’ overlooking their very own busy water hole and their ‘Sofa Safari’ sitting in comfort while the wildlife comes to you. If you’re looking for a romantic and personal safari destination, then Jamala Madikwe is just for you.

The exquisite suites at Jamala Madikwe delight guests with the little touches. Each suite has a romantic king size four poster bed draped in netting with stunning views over the bushveld. Open the folding doors straight out onto your very own viewing deck, rim-flow plunge pool and relaxing loungers in your sala. The en-suite facilities include a free-standing bathtub with equally breathtaking views and both indoor and al fresco showers.
A dressing room and separate lounge area boasting a fireplace complete this truly romantic setting.
Facilities
The facilities at Jamala Madikwe continue the lodges theme of adding that little bit extra with a relaxing lounge area and library, wifi, curio shop, should you wish to purchase a small memento, an open-air bar for a spot of gin tasting, gym, spa and large lap pool. Dining experiences are in the dining room, the traditional boma or out on the star deck.
However, unique to Jamala is the ‘watchtower’ overlooking the bush and lodge watering hole, and if that sounds to much, try the ‘sofa safari’ which also overlooks the private water hole.

Jamala Madikwe Game Drive
Safaris at Jamala Madikwe start with an early morning game drive to catch the predators in action. Watch the sun rise while tracking the Big 5 across the pristine African bush. Later in the afternoon you’ll depart on your second safari game drive of the day, this is when the predators start to stir and prepare for a night of hunting.
Your ranger will stop at an opportune time to enjoy a refreshing drink whilst you admire the African sun giving way to the night sky. The drive back to the lodge takes place after sunset and allows your tracker to spotlight some of the nocturnal creatures in the bush.
