Jacana is perfectly situated on a beautiful island within the Jao Concession of the Okavango Delta, and offers predominately water-based safari activities. Take a traditional mokoro safari along the waterways of the Delta and witness the wildlife from this most natural of settings.

 

The wetlands are home to large herds of red lechwe, which attracted predators such as lion and leopard in large numbers, giving way to spectacular game viewing. The area is also considered by the international birding community as one of the world’s important birding area.

Jacana is a small camp of just five tents consisting of either twin or king size beds with swathed in mosquito netting and sumptuous soft furnishings and fittings.  The en-suite facilities include both indoor and outdoor showers, outdoor baths, double vanities and separate w.c.

 

Out on your private wooden deck you’ll find breathtaking views of the Delta.  Seating is provided to allow you to relax in comfort whilst gazing into never ending floodplains.

The facilities on offer at Jacana include a flooding fire deck with stunning views of the floodplain, ideal for pre-dinner drinks and a catch-up with your fellow guests.  Meals are taken in the dining room or out on the viewing deck under the stars.

 

The guest bar is ideally situation on the mezzanine deck with the perfect view to spot any passing wildlife.  A lodge pool and lounge area complete the facilities on offer.

The Okavango Delta offers guests an opportunity to explore the wild bush of Africa in the experienced hands of highly qualified guides.  Game drives are conducted in the morning and early evening when the predators are active in purpose built open game drive vehicles.  We highly recommend you accompany your guide on a bush walk, your guide will point out animal tracks along with the unique plant life of the Okavango Delta.

 

The perfect way to explore the Delta is by traditional mokoro, your guide with gently steer you through this stunning setting pointing out all the wildlife along the way, or simply meander through the Delta in a purpose built motor boat enjoying the magically scenery as you go.
