Overlooking the Matjies River Gorge and the Tsitsikamma Mountains, this congenial hub is where it all happens. The boma deck is the place to check-in, sip some bubbly, or a good cup of tea, relax after a day’s outing, chat to newly found friends and catch up with family news –  comfy chairs, a crackling fire and a sundowner in hand – what better way to end the day!

Rooms

Rooms

The sixteen suites are all situated in the gardens surrounding the main house. Decorated in earthy colours, with hand crafted artefacts scattered throughout, all feature king size beds (or twin if you prefer) and a well stocked mini bar. Sit out on your private wooden deck listening to the sounds of a garden humming with life, enveloped in the warmth of the African sun.

A hot water bottle for those chilly winter evenings. The homemade Lemon syrup (complete with recipe) –  it’s deliciously refreshing. Hand-baked cookies in tightly sealed jars  as the monkeys do LOVE to eat them too.

There are also two exclusive use villas, the perfect accommodation for families.

Facilities

Facilities

Hog Hollow is well know for its delectable food. A splendid buffet array awaits with all the little special treats and, of course, a bit of bubbly to begin the day.

As the day ends and the full splendor of the African stars shine down on the deck, dinners start - out at the boma - in a festive atmosphere.  After serving tasty little treats to whet the appetite, the host invites  you in to wine and dine in the main house.

There are various places you can escape to: the far lounge with a pair of binoculars, or just your thoughts, or if there is an important sporting event there is a TV; or under the leafy ficus tree, a haven for birds.

The Boma area leads down to the cool blue waters of the swimming pool where you may find others lazing about on sun loungers. Kick off your shoes, order an icy drink from the bar and relaaaaax...

Activities

Just a short distance from The Lodge is Hog Hollow Horse Trails, where you can set out on horseback, or in the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage, to ride through farm meadows and indigineous forest, or to  local wine farms and other attractions in the area.

Boat trips up the Keurbooms river, followed by an hour-long stand up paddling experience in the tranquil surroundings of the Keurbooms Nature Reserve. Glide for 4.5km up the deep ravine of the tranquil Keurbooms River to the sandy cove at Whiskey Creek.

Not only are there over 50 charted walks in and around the area, but you can walk from the lodge through the indigenous forest to Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, The Birds of Eden or The Elephant Sanctuary. Not to mention a little further up the road there is the HIGHEST bungy in the world and the Treetops Canopy tours...
