Day 1   Explore the glittering metropolis of Cape Town with its dazzling beauty

Your spectacular Cape Town holiday kicks off with a scenic tour of the natural beauty of Cape Town. Capture breath-taking sights of iconic Table Mountain and cherry pick exhilarating adventures that will excite you. Peruse the bustling market at the vibrant Greenmarket Square and leisurely meander through Company Gardens, established by Dutch settlers in 1652. A city steeped in history, drive past the Houses of Parliament and the historical Castle of Good Hope, as well as the Slave Lodge, which used to house thousands of slaves belonging to the Dutch East India Company. Wander the quaint streets of the traditional Malay Quarter in the predominantly Muslim Bo-Kaap, with its brightly coloured houses dating back as far as the 17th century, and pause to listen to the firing of the noonday gun from Signal Hill.

Day 2 - 3   Marvel at stunning scenery, take a step back in time and, if brave enough - encounter Jaws!

Today is a day dedicated to discovering the sensational Cape Peninsula.  Make a splash and explore the magnificent sun-kissed beaches of Clifton, and stroll up and down the trendy streets of beautiful Camp’s Bay bustling with sidewalk cafés and trendy bars. Your next stop is the charming coastal suburb of Hout Bay, a former fishing village featuring a golden beach beautifully framed by lush mountains. Continue along the breath-taking Chapman’s Peak Drive before heading to Cape Point Nature Reserve, abundant with exceptional flora and fauna. Delight in the antics of the local penguin colony near to Simon’s Town, famous for its naval military base.

 

To heighten your sublime experience the following optional experiences are available at an extra cost.

 

Take a ferry ride to Robben Island for the Robben Island Tour, best known as the site of a jailhouse for political prisoners, including former South African president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela. Your tour of the island is guided by a former political inmate, which means you will hear first-hand tales of its story of hope and hardship.

 

A shark cage diving adventure is ideal for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts alike. Swimming with sharks in South Africa is an electrifying experience and guests can feel the full force of their adrenalin at the prospect of coming face-to-face with a shark, inside the protection of a submerged cage. Your day begins early in the quaint coastal village of Gansbaai, at the Great White House, where you can top up your energy levels, with a delicious breakfast, for the day’s adventure on a Great White Shark tours. Safety is paramount – guests will sit down to a brief introductory talk with a marine biologist, before being fitted with life-jackets. Snacks, soft drinks, wet suits and waterproof jackets are included.

Day 4   Meander through exquisite Franschoek in the Cape Winelands, a cultural and culinary sublime haven

 

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and set off for the town of Franschhoek, nestled in the Cape Winelands. This exquisite town, enveloped in lush mountains, is a breath-taking sight of exquisite vineyards and magnificently restored homesteads. Explore the history of this region and visit the fascinating Huguenot Memorial and the neighbouring museum. Delight in the sweet fragrance of blooming colourful roses as you meander through the town’s stunning rose gardens, browse exquisite antique shops and relish delicious culinary fare in elegant cafés. A gastronomic paradise, taste the finest wines and dine at world-famous restaurants.

Day 5   Taste exotic flavours, sip the finest wines and engage with Africa's largest raptors and owls

Embark on a stunning day starting off at the Spice Route Winery. Tempting your taste buds are delicious wine, beer, chocolate and biltong tasting. While you are still revelling in delicious tastes, appreciate crafted beauty at a glassblowing shop that features magnificent creations.  If you have ever had the urge to touch a crocodile then a visit to the Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm is the perfect place for you. Wander around the crocodile ponds, which are home to more than a thousand reptiles, and capture pictures holding a baby croc. If you are there during the summer months, you can watch the daily feeding. Your fascinating day ends at the sublime Spier Wine Estate for a wine tasting experience, and exploring the Eagle Encounter birds of prey rehabilitation centre. Interact with these magnificent raptors and owls, and get up close and personal with mystical bearded dragons and dwarf chameleons.

 

If you prefer your day to be more active, combine wine tasting with horse riding on a horseback adventure through some of the area’s scenic wine estates. Alternatively, explore the winding trails surrounding the town on a mountain bike, stopping frequently to drink in the beautiful views.

Day 6   Immerse yourself in the majestic vastness of the wild in the Kruger National Park

This morning you will embark on the safari leg of your fabulous itinerary. You will be transferred by road back to Cape Town International Airport, and board a scheduled domestic flight to Hoedspruit Airport. On arrival in Hoedspruit, a vehicle will be waiting to take you to your chosen lodge within the Kruger National Park.

 

Sprawling over almost two million hectares (five million acres) the magnificent Kruger National Park is the largest in South Africa. Featuring wildlife-rich land, diverse landscapes, and unique ecosystems spanning 350 kilometres (220 miles) from north to south along South Africa’s border with Mozambique, an abundant plethora of species call this exceptional place home. This extraordinary wildlife haven includes over 507 birds, 147 mammals, 114 reptiles, 34 amphibians, 49 fish and 336 tree types, and reveals ancient Bushmen rock paintings and fascinating archaeological sites revealing man’s interaction with the earth. The luxurious Ngala Private Game Reserve, and a few other reserves share unfenced borders with this gigantic natural area, allowing wildlife to roam the vast expanse.

Day 7 - 9   Delight in thrilling game drives, the quintessential African safari experience

Revel in exhilarating safari experiences twice a day in the Kruger National Park. Explore this vast terrain and seek out the famous Big Five and an abundance of other wildlife great and small. Get an early start and wake before the dawn for your thrilling morning game drive. Discuss with your experienced tracker and guide which animals are on your bucket list, and they will endeavour to track them for you. Learn about the diverse flora, and the fascinating behaviour of the wildlife through their tracks and various chatters, patters and roars.

 

Return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast and then opt to go on an interesting nature walk. Strap on your walking boots and stride through the tall grass exploring the intricate details of the bush that are woven into the bold tapestry of the park. Take the time to discover animal tracks that criss-cross each other, insects, colourful bird species and plants. Listen to the myriad sounds of the bush and learn about the unique sounds surrounding you. Delight in evening games drives that carry on long after dark and provide the dazzling opportunity to encounter sublime nocturnal predators that are not usually seen during the day.

Day 10   Depart the fascinating bush as you make your way onward

Equine enthusiasts of all ages, and riding levels, will have the memorable opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled Swimming with Horses adventure, on Benguerra Island. Dress down for the occasion, in just your swimwear, and ride bareback into azure waters, gently striding into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean on top of your mount.

 

Expect splashing, and the occasional grunt of pleasure from your horse as it wades into the calm waters surrounding the lodge. Afterwards, hop off your steed and allow them to enjoy a well-deserved roll on the beach.

 

This 30 to 45 minute adventure allows for a maximum of 4 guests per swim and is perfect as a standalone activity or can be added after a more extensive horseback exploration of the island. The Swimming with Horses activity is seasonal as well as weather and tide dependent.
