The 14 000 hectare of pristine African wilderness which is home to the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve is in the Northern part of the Sabi Sand and forms part of the Greater Kruger Park.


Thornybush enjoys some of the best game viewing on offer with spectacular ‘Big 5’ sightings plus the elusive cheetah and wild dog make this a ‘Super Seven’ destination.



The River Lodge at Thornybush offers guests luxury suites overlooking the Timbavari River. 


Each suite benefits from a private viewing deck and plunge pool with spectacular views along with king size beds, air-conditioning, bathtubs and outdoor showers.

After a scrumptious breakfast you are welcome to join your ranger on an insightful bush walk where he will take you on a journey of discovery explaining in greater detail the medical uses of various plants and tree along the importance of the smaller creatures, like the dung beetles, termites and even the mosquitoes have to the ecosystem.  You will go away with a much greater respect for these tiny creatures that share our planet.
