The 14 000 hectare of pristine African wilderness which is home to the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve is in the Northern part of the Sabi Sand and forms part of the Greater Kruger Park.

Thornybush enjoys some of the best game viewing on offer with spectacular ‘Big 5’ sightings plus the elusive cheetah and wild dog make this a ‘Super Seven’ destination.

Each of the suites enjoy king size beds, fireplaces, private viewing decks looking out along the Monwana riverbed. The en-suite bathrooms have picture windows and in and out showers.

The presidential suite boasts a dining room and lounge area, however the true highlight is the ‘James Bond’ styled motorized deck pool that reveals itself from beneath the deck with a touch of a button.

Facilities at Shumbalala include a wine cellar with views of the river making it an ideal place for romantic dining. Shumbalala also accommodated private dining, and al fresco fireside dining.

Twice daily game drive in open Land Cruisers with highly professional rangers and Shangaan trackers, both of which enjoy sharing their knowledge and experiences of the African bush.

After a scrumptious breakfast you are welcome to join your ranger on an insightful bush walk where he will take you on a journey of discovery explaining in greater detail the medical uses of various plants and tree along the importance of the smaller creatures, like the dung beetles, termites and even the mosquitoes have to the ecosystem.  You will go away with a much greater respect for these tiny creatures that share our planet.
