Londolozi’s Private Granite Suites are a celebration of elegance and elephants in a remarkable river setting and offer an extraordinary experience for the exclusive use of six guests. This luxury safari lodge is for the discerning traveller who appreciates the finer details.
The property was renamed Londolozi in recognition of the Vartys’ ethic of sanctuary; the name is derived from Zulu and means ‘Protector Of All Living Things’. Through the 1970s and ’80s, Londolozi’s guiding principle was to demonstrate that wildlife tourism was economically viable in a land torn apart by racism, division and fences.
The Private Granite Suites blend the boundaries between inside and outside, creating a seamless integration with nature with large doors and windows opening directly onto the Sand River. Each suite has a luxurious outdoor bath and private, heated swimming pool.
The suites can be booked individually or as a private camp for six guests, making it ideal for honeymooning couples or small groups celebrating special occasions. This lodge does not accommodate children under the age of 16.
The lodge is flanked by an extrusion of granite rocks, an effect echoed by the décor’s bold materials and silver, charcoal and elephant grey palette. The suites convey Africa’s raw essence with a contemporary and elegant flavour. A sunset river bar and sunken cocktail lounge are suspended high above the Sand River, where breeding herds of elephants wander over the ancient river ways.
On returning from the drive and fortifying yourself with breakfast you can either retire to the cool sanctuary of your chalet or indulge a myriad of bushveld activities which includes: Photographic Studio, Healing House Retreat, Gym and Boutique Shopping
Game drives at Londolozi are taken by professional, passionate and knowledgeable Rangers and Trackers, who have 350 years of experience between them. With over 16,000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same.
Trackers sit up at the front of the Land Rover looking for fresh animal tracks, while Rangers drive with astonishing skill into ravines and through thickets in pursuit of rare animal sightings, simultaneously wowing guests with their knowledge and unforgettable stories.
Activities include: Bush Walks, Village Experiences, Good Work Foundation Community Experience, Yoga Classes and Massages.
