The world-famous Kruger National Park was first proclaimed in 1898, at the time President Paul Kruger believed the wildlife of South Africa needed protection, but it took another 12 years before hunting was restricted in the area between the Sabie and Crocodile rivers.
These days the park is a premier South African safari destination with Jock’s Safari Lodge having access to prime Kruger bushveld. Nestled at the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers at the southern tip of the park.
Jock’s Safari Lodge consists of twelve stone and thatched suites, each with twin or king size beds draped with mosquito netting, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and an indoor seating area with luxurious soft furnishings. The en-suite facilities include an outdoor shower, single vanity and separate w.c.
Open your doors onto a wooden veranda with a seating area with a private plunge pool, daybed ‘sala’ and stunning views of either the river.
The facilities on offer at Jock’s Safari Lodge include a sparkling pool, idea for cooling off during the lazy afternoons, surrounded by a wooden viewing deck with seating. A raised guest lounge and bar. Dining is conducted either in the dining room or out on viewing deck.
Relax in the library or TV room or take a wonder to the gift boutique. A relaxation retreat including a sauna and fitness room are also available.
Activities at Jock’s Safari Lodge include twice daily game drives with highly experienced guides in state of the art open game drive vehicles.
It’s always recommended that you join your guide on an insightful bush walk where he will take you on a journey of discovery explaining in greater detail the medical uses of various plants and tree along the importance of the smaller creatures, like the dung beetles, termites and even the mosquitoes have to the ecosystem. You will go away with a much greater respect for these tiny creatures that share our planet.
